Is this a real USA MM?

$300 was a typical price for those before the pandemic induced used gear consumption put them on the radar.
$700-900 is typical now, especially since the Stingrays are nearly $3K new and $2K used. The US SUB is no joke.
I have a '05 4 string and '04 5 string US SUBS. Paid $600 total for both back in the Twenty-Teens. Amazing basses. Love the 2EQ.

Yes US made SUB bass. Was a budget model that EBMM says they took a beating on. They saved money by not contouring the body and using a bed-liner type of paint. That is a fantastic price, btw. Great basses but very heavy.

I owned 3 of them - a fretted, and 2 fretless ones (one active, one passive). They are essentially a 'Classic StingRay' with the slab body and USA 2-band preamp, but without thru-body stringing, and of course the painted neck and matte body paint. I will counter the 'very heavy' assertion by stating that all of the ones I had were not very heavy at all - generally 9lbs or less. The active fretless one I had was one of the best basses ever for the studio. I regret selling every single one of those USA SUBs.

$300 has been way too low for quite some time, $900 is too high for me even if that’s what they sell for now. I like all the specs on paper, they seem like reasonable differences from a classic for the price difference, but in real life something about them is weird.

I had a fretted passive one, great bass! just like many said, very heavy, mine was 10.5 lbs.

The passive version has a pickup specifically wound for it. Sweet sounding bass, a Musicman for sure but add in a little P Bass mellowness. It's my go to bass right now.

I had the turquoise 5’er of this bass. It played fine, but the rough texture, and steel grate pick guard was too much for me. I got mine for a song at $250 and sold it for about $350 to a guitar store in Phoenix.

It’s legit. I had an active one when they first came out. Sounded every bit as good as my much more expensive Stingrays.

If you’re a gigging bassist, this is a great bass, the finish is indestructible. As for price, at $900 its no great deal, in fact that’s kinda the upper end of the price range for that bass. I’d personally hold off on that one unless the seller dropped to the sub $600 bracket, that would be a good price for a buyer, much below that is a steal.

Thanks to this post I realized it was time to change the look of my US MM SUB. I have the original metal grate pickguard somewhere but not putting it back on.

I went with matte black which apparently was an option.
