Is this guy serious?

The thumbrest is a misnomer. The rest was originally there because people plucked the strings with their thumb, and the rest was for them to balance their fingers on so they could play with the thumb. It's like that on really old basses. When the playing style changed, they moved the thumbrest to above the strings, so people would actually rest their thumb on it. I don't know if it was originally called a "thumbrest" though..

When I was buying a drumkit many years ago I called out to a local house who had advertised a Pearl kit. The lady of the house explained that it was her son's kit and that he was living abroad and had instructed her to sell the kit.

Suffice to say, the only mention of Pearl on the piece of crap was hand written in marker on one of the skins, Remo hand written on another. She seemed genuinely embarassed when I explained to her that it wasn't a Pearl kit and wasn't worth 20% of the price asked. These things can happen, some people just find themselves in the position of selling things they know nothing about and go with what they can see.

In fairness, that bass ain't a Gibson but they're not exactly asking a genuine Gibson price either ;)

Love the description"Bought 1 year ago, in good condition".

Then again 784 feedbacks all positive, I don't think they're out to scam anybody, what Dr.J said, aint a gibson price.
