I'm not trolling at all - just observing a couple of things:
You don't really know what a good setup is...
You're finally starting to get the significance of having a good setup when checking out any bass that's new to you...
Your last couple of sentences are pretty telling, actually - you basically have said that your SX is a better bass than some pretty decent basses you named, yet say that it doesn't even come close to an sr505??? Granted, an sr505 is a pretty good bass - I've owned 3 of them, FWIW - but they're nothing spectacular, and certainly not a better bass than an EBMM, nor an American Fender - both of which you compared your SX to, IIRC...

I am now finally starting to see the impact a good setup can have on a bass, that is true.
I have also compared my SX to an Ibanez SR505 and yes, it did fall short. But so did every other bass I've ever played. The SR505 is the most comfortable bass I've ever played. No other bass, even if it cost twice as much, has ever come close in terms of playability or comfort.
I have compared my SX to EBMM before, the reason being that it's neck profile works better for my hand than a Stingray's. That's the only reason.
I've never thought EBMM had poor build quality or anything, it's just that I can't play their stingrays comfortably. Something about the neck profile just doesn't work with my hand. The EBMM Sterling fits my hand just fine and I've played a couple of Sterlings with nicer necks than my SX. Also the Stingray has a kind of cool tone that I couldn't get with any other bass, so in the future I may own a Stingray SLO special (1.5" nut).
I would also prefer this bass to several American Fenders I've played. But those were hanging on the walls at GC and had likely had tons of hands touching them before, so I really had no way of knowing how nice they were. I will say there was one Am Std P bass I played at GC that is still the best bass I've ever touched. Almost as comfortable/easy to play as the Ibanez, but with all the tone of a P bass.
Hope that clears up any confusion.
