Hey everyone... So I picked up a Fender bass from a pawn shop a while back and just wanted to get some other people's opinions on it. I am pretty sure it's a replica but I thought it was pretty well done. Or maybe it's the real deal. I really don't know enough to be able to tell. I figured with some help I could be sure. There is no serial number anywhere on it, even under the neck joint.

I agree that the lack of a serial number is odd, but there aren't any other red flags I can see - the hardware appears to have been upgraded to Hipshot, but everything looks right to me except for the visible outline around the headstock decal. It's very possibly a high-quality parts bass of some sort, and I guess "high quality" because that hipshot hardware ain't cheap and nobody would put it on a knockoff.

I think you're right about all of that and what I paid for it is much less than what whoever built it put into it.

too bad the bridge was installed very very slightly too close to the treble string side. Oh well. Hardly a big deal. Very very nice bass, and solid craftsmanship, and very pretty body wood finish!

Not much that can go wrong with a solidly built precision bass.

I don't know anything about fender labels, but I do think I see a sticker outline on the usa made label small text part at bottom of front of headstock (below the FENDER logo word)... and I don't know if that is normal or not, but just an observation. And I might well be wrong about seeing that. I just would have thought that I wouldn't see that on a real usa. It's been so long since I had a fender bass that I couldn't tell ya any more LoL.

I really like it though and would probably choose it over a stock precision due to the bridge and general appearance, and the fact that it looks legit enough at least wins over badge-crazy crowds on stage.

I mean, come on, we all know that the girls snicker at us when we play Squiers on stage, right? (I'm kidding, I've rocked squiers on stage without any more girls snickering at me than usual!)

The font looks off. Its an early 70s style font but it doesnt look right to me for some reason: Letters look too small. Usually, the letters BASS extend aways past that last tuner for that early 70s style font.......the truss rod adjustment doesnt look right either...Doesnt mean Im right: check for stamps and check the pots, but Im not sure how many Corona built basses used that particular font and early 70s logo face unless a commorative bass or a signature bass like a Nate Mendel model

I thought the made in USA was on the back of the headstock by that point.
That, and the color of the Fender name was different as well as the front.

I've checked the pots as well and that was another dead-end road.
