They didn't know anything about it. They said they had just gotten it and I shot them a very low offer and they took it.

Looks nice but it's definitely a parts bass. No serial number = fake Fender. Neck has added or replaced decal. Also the nut has amber tint finish sprayed on it. The only necks I've seen like that are Chinese made. The neck looks VERY similar to the current batches of Chinese necks with fake fender decals. Neck heel poor fit around pickguard. String spacing over pickups is the worst I've ever seen on a Fender bass. Makes me wonder if the bridge is centered and aligned properly on the body in relationship to the neck. Neck plate is a generic copy sold widely on eBay. I've got a couple here at home right now. Bridge and string retainer could also be a copy of a Hipshot as there're out there too.

It does look good except for that horrible string to pickup alignment. If it plays out decent then that's in it's favor but I personally wouldn't pay more than $200.00. And it would have to be a really awesome sounding and playing bass for me to pay that much. You asked, so.....

I think you're right about all of that and what I paid for it is much less than what whoever built it put into it.

It’s fine looking bass whichever way you look at it.

I believe the HWY 1 was the only exception to that rule, and this aint one of those

It looks to be a well made bass. As several have mentioned it appears to be a parts bass. I’ve never seen those tuners copied before except on a couple of the higher end SX basses sold by Rondo Music. They of course would not have the Fender logo.
The headstock logo doesn’t look quite right and almost looks like it’s a sticker with gobs of clear over top.
Could be a Squier neck that’s had the logo sanded off and a new one put on. No stamps in the neck pocket or anywhere else is a bit of a red flag, but overall looks very solid and maybe on the heavier side.
The custom shop logo is bogus and actually fits what some of the vendors on aliexpress are doing. I’m not quite sure why the strings aren’t lining up better between the pole pieces but I doubt it effects the functionality. A regular bent piece of steel bridge might line up better if the holes match. If you get the one with the threaded barrel saddle pieces you can move the strings around as you like them.

I have a HWY 1 and the truss adjustment is at the heel.

I don’t know about the past but the current honey burst is very amber and more, well, honey colored.

Check the string spacing.
I think the pickup wants a 3/4 or 19 mm spacing.
I think the bridge might be 17mm.
Otherwise, a pretty bass, not likely made by Fender, but made from parts meant to fit Fenders.
Personally, I'd have to change the bridge.
Might not bother you at all.
It comes down to wheather or not the spacing makes pickup sound uneven where the poles are not ailigned or not.
That and your preference for spacing at the bridge.
If you like 17mm maybe leave the bridge and get blade type pickups.

Looks like a decent parts bass. Absolutely not a real Fender, but I dig it. If you got it for a few hundred or less you did well assuming it plays and sounds good. Congrats!

That's nice looking. Fake, but nice looking. Truss rod access, Custom Shop branding with such a poor fit and finish. If your low ball was low enough, you can sell the hardware and maybe get close to making your money back. Or use it as a beater...
