Is this to be expected from a "900 dollar" instrument?

Keep it or send it back?

I see your point,
but the issue with the cavity isn't the wiring, its that the wood is literally chiseled out on part of it and there is some shielding missing. there is an intermittent buzz also, perhaps coincidence.
The pickup doesn't have a tilt adjustment, just two screws total per pickup
Raising pickup height isn't going to help with the volume issue since the volume fluctuates and drains batteries at an alarming rate.
as far as the imperfections in the wood, the guy at Ibanez even admitted that the finish looks like it was implied improperly resulting in a crack and bubbles in the finish.
Take it back.. get your money back and go to AMS or Zzounds and get something decent on a CC payment plan.

Any news on this?
FedEx has it now, it will be back at sweetwater Monday.
Ibanez totally left me hanging for a couple days waiting on the shipping label to be emailed. Several emails without response, several voicemails I left with no responses. I finally got a hold of someone who told me that they would fix the preamp but that the other issues were cosmetic and that the do NOT warranty cosmetic issues, followed by a "if you don't like it, take it back where you got it" Now if I try to talk to anyone about it, I get put on hold, then either sent directly to a voicemail, or if I'm lucky, someone comes back on the line to tell them they are sending me to voicemail.
Definitely turned me off of Ibanez. I took the advice of forum members, applied for a GC credit card and somehow got it, and went and took advantage of their 15 percent off sale :] and no, I didn't get an ibanez, lol

Ha ha. Right on. Hopefully your GC experience works out better!
