Is this worth it? (Warwick content)

They are well made instruments. Just check to make sure that the neck is the right profile for you, as sometimes the necks can be uncomfortable to play. I used to own a thumb bass (pictured as my avatar) and it has been the best bass i've played. If you get the chance to play it before hand do so.

looks like it might be a 99 streamer std, but it's more than likely an old rockbass that someone is trying to pass off as a streamer std. if the neck is maple, it's a rockbass and someone is a liar. if the neck is medium/dark brown, (not sure what wood they used for necks on that model in 99, but it wasn't maple) then it's a poorly maintained streamer std. either way, the streamer std was a very basic model, and in that condition i wouldn't pay $400 for it. guitar center has a used 03 corvette with active single coils and 2 band preamp, looks to be in much better condition going for $449.
The headstock is a dead giveaway. The fretboard and neck should be wenge. I agree with bg82, that corvette would be a better option.
looks like a german made streamer std to me. That fingerboard looks like wenge to me and chinese rockbasses do NOT have brass frets like this one. im pretty sure that is an ovangkol neck/wenge fb. show us some back side pics of the bass please.

As the current owner of abut 20 Warwicks and the prior owner of about a dozen more, i can tell you that this is a German made Streamer standard with an ovangkol neck.
These are fine basses. This one was made in 1999 before rockbass even existed. There are some earlier ones that were made with wenge necks too but I believe this line was introduced in 98 and Warwick transitioned to ovangkol for their necks in 99 so those are rare.
These came standard with a regular single piece bridge as pictured here. The body is essentially a pine species. Nice and light. Solid tone. These were Warwicks no frills basses. Great value. I have owned a few and really enjoyed them. The body wood is nice and light and the pickups are nicely voiced.

I played one of them when they came out for that year or so that they were available, and thought it felt and sounded nothing like a Warwick. I had a 98 Corvette at the the time.
FWIW: I have owned an active Corvette, a Streamer Jazzman, Streamer Pro M, a Fortress Flashback, and I still own a Fortress One which has been my favorite of them all. Definitely prefer the wenge neck Warwicks to the Ovankle.

Nope. That is absolutely the original finish. It has a greenish brown (or brownish green) hue in person just as pictured
Roger is correct. He has owned a few more Warwicks than I have, and he obviously knows his stuff about them as well. This is, by the serial number on the back of the headstock, a 1999 German made Warwick Streamer Standard. The only thing I could think of adding is (if I am not mistaken) I think these have passive MEC pickups, whereas a lot of newer Warwicks go with the MEC Active electronics. But, these were standard for that year (if I am correct). I owned a Honey Violin colored one like that and it sounded fantastic as well.
It would not hurt to offer a little less for the bass. I never go in to a deal and just automatically give what is asked right away. See if they have a little bit to give; maybe offer 300-350 to see what kind of reaction you get and then go from there. But yeah, if the bass is in good shape and no major neck or truss rod issues or damage, and everything works as it should, I would gladly get it for that price.
I've had a thumb nt5, thumb bo5, corvette FNA (original single pickup), and a corvette standard. Sold all of mine. the NT5 was my baby for many years but she just wasn't aging well. Here is a picture of her from a show about 3 years ago not long before i sold it.
All true except you may be confusing terms regarding the pickups. Most Warwicks have active electronics ie active preamps, not active pickups (electronics and pickps are not interchangeable terms as there are other components that comprise "the electronics"). In fact all warwicks have passive pickups but the active models have lower impedence pickups these can be distinguished from thenhighernimpedence pickps from thempassice basses as the low impedence pickups have a gold MEC logo and the high impudence pickups have a silver logo.
And while this Streamer STD was the absolute budget Warwick at the time it is still a great bass. In fact it is the only bass to feature sealed humbuckers or soapbar pickups
Disagree. I had a 5 string honey violin streamer standard (2 pups version) in the early 2000's and it sounded like a Warwick except of the lower putput signal and passive tone compared to my streamer lx6, lx4 and stage1-4 that i had at the time.
I haven't, but there seems to be an abundance of all brands of used basses for sale, which is good for first time buyers and veterans alike.
