If you saw my previous thread 'Six Mic Shootout', please disregard it.
I went 'back to the drawing table' regarding the placement and installation of the Ischell C3.
I've never been good at following instructions and sometimes that gets me into trouble.
I went back to the online manual and (re)learned 3 things.
1. Position One for the C3 is right under and up against the G side bridge foot. Just slightly to the 'Left' of center.
2. The C3 ships with the low cut set at 360 (I'm finding there is a reason for this).
3. The manual recommends starting with ONLY HALF THE PUTTY for the install.
I was trying to test the BLEED from various mics and was very surprised when I got more bleed with the C3 than I had expected. Mea Culpa.
With my fresh reinstall I again compared the BLEED between the Ischell C3 and the Xlson mic (The Xlson has quite good bleed rejection compared to 'Most Mics'.
Here is a new sound clip I just made with the C3 and the Ischell. No EQ, no post processing. Just straight to the recorder.
Note: Out of fairness to the Xlson, as I have mentioned previously, ON MY BASS it is necessary to cut the lows and boost the highs to get a 'natural' sound.
In the picture below, the first 1/3 or so is the sound of my voice about 6 inches from both mics. You'll see that there is almost NO BLEED from the Ischell C3.
The Xlson is 'quite bleed resistant' compared to most mics but it is, after all, an open air mic whereas the Ischell is sealed airtight to the top of the bass.
