ISO Quiet Compressor with Super Squash

Hello friends.

I am in search of a new compressor, and would like your opinions on what would be a good option. What I need is something that is really quiet, but also powerful. I run a lot of synthy effects and my volume levels are all over the place. I want something that will keep my volume at one level no matter how dry or wet my signal is. Don't care if it's a pedal or rackmount, just as long as it's quiet. I had the MXR pedal which I liked, but it broke. Then I purchased the Spectra Comp pedal and HATED it. I think that pedal is more geared to changing the sound of your signal, which I don't need, and it also created a ton of white noise. Don't want to spend anything more than $200. Am currently looking at the FMR RNC, but wanted to ask your opinion before I pull the trigger. Let me know what you think!

The keeley bassist or compressor pro are great for what you describe. Both pedals even do infinity:1 “brick wall” limiting.

BOSS BC-1x. Clean, quiet, and excellent. A fantastic & very easy to set compressor that’s overlooked only because it’s not “boutique”. Preserves highs and lows.

The Seymour Duncan pedal comp. might work well for you too. Very quiet, easy to set, and has some basic EQ options which can be useful. Preserves highs and lows.

I have the Alexis Microlimitter which does exactly what you’re after (I actually have 2 and run one in my tv setup to even out volume of shows & commercials).
