Damn, that is sweet! Every element ties together perfectly. Your aesthetic sensibilities are absolutely second to none when it comes to the old school vibe. I don't think I've ever seen a bass you built that I didn't want!
Everything sounds good through my Mesa rig, but I bet a single coil P would sing. My 60's RI Precision sounds incredible, but there aren't a lot of basses like this on the market.
I always liked the blue with tort combination. Did you manage to get the two pups hum cancelling when they are both on?. Throw a lipstick or darkstar in the middle for the ultimate single coil combo

Beautiful bass. I would have loved to see it without the bridge pickup installed, but that's just me. I'm a purist I guess. I love my Precision bass, I love my Jazz bass. I dislike any and all PJ bass for some reason.
I want this bass! I actually plan on doing a Warmoth build and I was looking at a 50's P bass body, with that particular pickup configuration.
How does it sound with both pickups on full? I imagine it sounds pretty close to a Jazz bass rather than a PJ set up.

@Dark Horse if you ever come across a deal on a 5 string body and neck with at least 18mm spacing that meets your standards for aesthetics..... and feel froggy, contact me. I may just let you do whatever you do and slap a 5 stringer together for me (for a profit of course).
You seem to see combinations in your head that aren't out of the realm of traditional, but are a new take on traditional. And they all just look great. Even the electronics packages you come up with just ooze cool.
I'm not joking. I hope you are able to turn your avocation into a vocation someday. You're a parts bass wizard. You probably haven't sunk a grand in a bass in years. And your projects wind up cooler than most off-the-rack basses.
Seriously, when you start your own company, I want serial #0001 (some sort of 5 string passive traditional-but-not-traditional creation that makes bass players in the back of the room say to themselves "Now where did that guy get THAT thing?")..... and a men's large Dark Horse Custom Basses T-shirt....and a hat.... like a trucker cap.....and a sticker..... gotta have a sticker.

I do like photography, and mess with it a bit. The one in this thread was done on my iPhone 6.... I love the versatility of it.... but I also occasionally shoot with a "proper" camera ....
Here are a few shots I've taken...The reproduction quality isn't great as these aren't from the original hi-res shots, but you'll get the idea ...
Imagine a jazz but with a beefier bottom end when both pups are full on .. of course you can get a straight SCPB tone as well
