Yes it is, however it is easier to hide the bass from my wife than it is the sports car.
The absolute truth.

I reached that club a long, long time ago !
I'm a fan of @dukeplaysbass' "catch and release" program. Good therapy for GAS. Buy it, play it for a while, release it back into the wild.Lately I find myself having buying urges that I've never had before, and probably shouldn't have. Ridiculous things, like I'm currently wanting an Ibanez Ergodyne 5 string bass ....something ive never even come close to desiring. I'm not sure ANYONE desires the Ergodynes. What's next, a 7 string with a tremolo ?
I'm pretty sure I need counseling.
Hopefully this will pass.

The impulses that lurk in our brain, wanting without need, simply out of desire. Our purient interest take us back to our caveman days. Alas, we all know the drill all too well.
Lately I've been wanting a Peavey T40 again. Why I cannot figure out for the life of me. I don't need it, it wouldn't fill a sonic niche in my arsenal (my usual go to excuse to buy a bass) nor would it be an improvement in playability over any of my other awesome basses. I'm not a collector by any means, and I don't play in any southern rock tribute bands (sorry, couldn't help that one) and most importantly, I can't afford the fork lift I would need to move it around.
But I still want one.
It's like some weird throw back to my younger years where I'm trying to grab up some of the old gear I used to have... Yikes, this could get messy. Is this my equilivent to wanting a shiny sports car in my mid life?

This isn't normal GAS. GAS doesn't mystify me, it's easily explainable.
This is wanting something that there's no way I "should" want.
GAS is me wanting this 66 LPB Precision.
Wanting a Ergodyne is inexplicable.

Better be careful with that practice, I once read that too much can influence your mind into acceptance of the self gratification method therefor it becomes the norm and when confronted with the real opportunity one can be overcome by performance anxiety. Dont be caught standing there with bass in hand and not be able to perform.![]()
Judging by the amount of clubs you belong to you may be running out of GAS......one might assume. Must have a big tank.
I guess the Beatles were right

.......Omg....that blue, the thick black pickguard stripe, the perfect string spacing ...please dont tell us its lightweight too? drool, swore I would never again go vintage but that is it.

So glad I could be of service to you, I recommend you arrange your first full appointment with me anytime after 10pm on Friday Night's and Saturday Night's as that is when I have the answers to everything. I do not charge for my services as my answers are pricelessDr. P-minus h-D... could this be the very reason why I performed so poorly playing international Yahtzee? I was fine in the comfort of my 10X10 padded safe room, but when thrust into the cup-shaking world of competitive Yahtzee, I choked regularly, which I attribute to the 1000 watt fluorescents illuminating the game arenas... with your help, we may delve deep into my psyche, arriving at the real, underlying problem...
... in the interim, I'm moving on to CandyLand.
