After 9 years of playing with the same wonderful, marvelous, super fantastic drummer, I just let him go.

I love the guy (That's why it was me that did the dirty deed), but there have been problems with the singer for years, and now the guitard has sided with the singer. I held out as long as I could, but things came to a head last weekend, and people were unreasonable IMHO.

We have a new drummer lined up for this weekend (Not gonna be the same, but the show must go on) and the singer is going to wrest the control from the rest of the remaining band members.

The story is years old, and there is way too much to explain, but we parted friends, the rest of the boys not so much, and I'm seriously considering looking for greener pastures myself.

There has to be a group of adults that like to have fun out there someplace......

Any chance you and the drummer can form The New Originals Mach II with a new guitard and singer?

I'm going to give the new line up a shot. I'm very certain that if (and when) the singer takes "charge" it's not going to go too well. I've heard there are several bar owners that would not be pleased with having to deal with him either.

We've been doing this for 9 years. I figure at the very least I'll try to finish out the year, and if I do decide to leave I'll probably take a substantial break.

I really think it might be nice to be able to take a vacation with my wife or maybe get some sleep on the weekends, or just not deal with backstabbing and in-fighting all the time.

I may just decide to play in church a lot more regularly and get my outlet there.

A project with the drummer is definitely a possibility, but right now, not so much.

Theo Epstein wrote something similar this week in his farewell letter to Red Sox Nation. Except for him it was "10 years" and "I'm going to the Cubs."

As over rated as Brian Cashman. May be the cubs want LAckey...

Sucks about the drummer. When you find the right one there is nothing better... Most singers are Aholes but most people come to see him not the drummer and bass player

Aw, man...

I won't go to the mat with you on the Cashman comparison. All I know is they won two more titles than I expected they'd win before I died. I'm not a greedy man.

And don't get me started on Slackey. Do they have good fried chicken in Chicago?

Getting back to the music, +1 re the drummer. Get a good one you can lock in with and have fun fun with and hold onto him like grim death.

If you like the drummer so much why not lose the other two .
Plenty guitarists and singers around I recon.:)

Wow man sorry to hear this since from what I have read you have always had a good solid gigging band. The singer from the vibe I've picked up on other posts is a tool ...good, but a tool. If I'm wrong please correct.
9 years is a long time for any workingman's, coverband. If I get weird and figure it kinda like using dog life year's to a human's for a coverband and if my calculations are correct. You guys are on same amount of years in line with say REM or U2 :D

Hope you can work out the rest of the year and salvage something out of this.
