O.P. (Opie?) I think you're missing the point. Only a percentage of people will think a USA Fender is professional, maybe 65%. Others will say Rickenbacker, Gibson, Sears Silvertone, etc. If you want to be respected and admired by pretty much everybody, then you have to get an instrument built with characteristics of all the main brands, such as my Strato-Ricken-Paulie custom guitar, for example. Of course, a small number of people would maintain that you've chosen all the worst features of each brand, and that you are an insufferable knee biter. Ignore them and rave on.

Or, get yourself a Marshall amp made in South Africa, A Thunderbird from Israel, and a silly hat from a local dairy farm (the brown tam 'o shanter is popular) and claim reverse snobbery is your motive.

I suggest you procure the most nondescript un-branded bass you can, learn to be the best player within several provinces, and put a sticker on it which says "My other bass is a USA Fender, but I'm too good for it, really".

Now go take your anti-confusion medication.

Tom

... it’s made in Mexican and i don’t know if a professional would plop down monies on one and i could be crushed by the Fender gods if i have one in the wild?
Just because it says Fender does not mean a Ferrari is faster than wilted romaine lettuce on a bed of rusty nails on a rainy Sunday night.

I chose "he who hires a carrot", then I realized I don't know the going cost-per-hour for a carrot. Do I have to provide workman's comp? Can I 1099 it or should I just pay it cash-under-the-table? Is there a carrot's union? Do I have to get a permit?

Well, there are a lot of reasons why I'd . . .
I'd drag a girl such as yourself back to this . . .
plastic hotel room and . . .
rip you off for spare change to run a . . .
to run a vibrating machine attached to this queen-size,
bulk-purchase, kapok-infested,
do-not-remove-tag-under-penalty-of-law type bed and . . .
and make you take off all your little clothes . . .
until you are nearly STARK RAVING NUDE!
(Save for your chrome-with-heavy-duty-leather-thong
Peace Medallion, heh . . . )
And make you assume a series of marginally erotic
poses involving . . . a plastic chair and . . .
an old guitar strap while I . . .
did a wee-wee in your hair and . . .
beat you with a pair of tennis shoes . . .
I got from Jeff Beck

And I got demerits from the mods for using the term “grab a girl”???
