Replaced the Ibby amp with an Ampeg BA-108 a few days ago, couldn't be happier.

I started playing bass in '62, and started playing in bar bands in '63 at age 15...I now own 4 basses, although I'm also a guitar player, and just starting to get back into playing in public again.

My basses: A 1990's US made Peavey Foundation...a really great great bass...I like it far more than the Fenders and Rics I have played...It fits my hands well and I love the simplicity and tone.Had this one for about 5 years now.
No name Hoffner Beatle bass copy...short scale. I got this thing for under $100 maybe 3 years ago, and it has an interesting hollow body thump. I think it will record very well, and it's very easy to play.

Also have a P bass knock off called a Huntington...has a good neck, although very light basswood body. Very good tones and nice player, more narrow than the old P basses I tried. GOOD pickups and decent hardware...Had this for maybe 8 months.

Just got an Epiphone EB3 bass yesterday. All mahogany, GREAT tone and fabulous fast neck...I love this one already!

All listed in my sig. Lakland 55-94 gets the most work, but I'm hoping to start a Beatles/Brit Invasion cover band that will let me roll out the Rick & Hofner. The Kalas don't see much work these days, and the Steinberger is on loan to a friend who has a studio. Stagg EUB is pretty much holding up a wall in the basement at this point.

There have been some pretty nice basses to come in to my possesion, but it is really going to take some magic to dethrone the Carvin. Mega lightweight and 100% Jazz tone. Sure there will always be things I like/think are cool, but I am GAS free (for now) on basses.

Thanks, I was seriously debating between a bass and this and I'm glad I chose this because my old amp is on it's last leg and I can't get it to make a decent sound for anything.

My bass arsenal has shrunk a bit and stabilized over the past year. The core is Fenders: two Precisions (a '74 and a '92 MIM) and two Jazzes (an AVRI '62 and a new FSR Antigua). I also have a couple Gibsons, for something a bit different: a Les Paul Money bass and a Midtown Standard. The Midtown is my bass with flats, which go well with its semi-hollow body and the very-close-to-the-neck front pickup (thump city). My one other bass is a bit of an oddity: a Kramer "The Duke", a Steinberger-esque small-bodied headless bass, which is for on-stage looks with my 80s cover band.

Also in the past year I finally got my regular gigging rig together, which is a Thunderfunk 550B amp and a Bag End Q10X-D cabinet.

Congrats. That Ampeg is cool. My noisy rigs are in the bass room (far from the main living area!). The BA-108 is next to the living room piano, for jamming with my daughter. Priceless!!

Thanks, I really like it, personally I just use it for bedroom practice, but I think it could get loud enough if I ever do jam with others, at least in a garage or living room setting.
