Check out my slightly modded Rickenbacker
only original part left in is the truss rods and the body.
Got it wired stereo, hence the two kill switches.
bridge pickup is a Gibson EB-3 bridge pickup.
Neck is a X2N. modded hipshot for a 14 mm string spacing.

Who wants to kill me now?

I dig it! I'm a Ric lover but one of my two (and my favorite bass ever) is heavily modded as well.... the previous owner did a lot to it and it needed some repairs so it just got a re-fin and is getting new guts- 2 Bart Ric pups, a Bart J pup, and a Bart 3 band EQ.... almost done now:

I'd love to see a few brighter pics of the bridge, but overall very cool from what I can tell.

Anyone who would want to "kill" you for modding a Ric needs to pull their head out of...the sand.

You're in good company. Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, Cliff Burton, and Lemmy didn't drive stock RICs either. ;)

Thanks for the friendly words. I thought people would be ripping my head off left and right.
I didn't take these pictures, I'II try to get some more with better lighting in the next few days.
I have another 4001 with a Hipshot whammy bar in it.
very unique Rickenbacker as the body was not thick enough and had to have another piece of maple fit to the back of it. You can imagine how must it cost to get that done.
I'II get pictures of that one soon aswell.

Love it. Now that you've spent money on the Rick, you should pay your electric bill so you can turn some lights on and take pictures us old guys with bad eyes can see :)

I just find the 4xxx to be too expensive a platform for random upgrades. If there were a more reliable way to buy cheap copies, I'd already be there, but I'm going to have to build one from scratch if I want one at a price point I feel comfortable abusing.

First: Epic fail on the pics, I wouldn't claim taking them either if I were you :-)

Second: People buy Rics for the look and for the sound. You've just changed both...so I gotta ask, what's the point. They're expensive basses and like CThompson said, they're just too expensive for most people to want to do random mods to them.

I can't say whether or not I think the mods look sweet, because I couldn't see anything :-P As long as you like it, that's all that really matters.
