It's too bad Peavey gets ZERO respect.

Out of all the popular Peavey basses, I’m surprised that the TL5 gets next to no love or mention in most places, unless I’ve missed that, too. The TLs have become my favorite Peavey bass. It won’t replace my Mike Lull, but it’s a good bass to have to satisfy the urge for a little something different from time to time.

I had a TL earlier this year that I intended to defret, but I butchered the bass in the process and literally gave it to someone.

I just found another one that I intend to get in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to it!
Definitely my favorite too!

Been gigging this rig since 1991 and the perfect combination of Peavey DynaBass 5 and MKIV head / 1820 cab still sounds fantastic at live gigs...I only wish my singing voice sounded as good as my Peavey gear after all these years loll
I own Rics, Fenders, and EBMM basses but I always come back to the Peavey Dyna 5 for its great playability and sound. Loads of respect from me, a working Aussie bassist. We have made a mint together loll

What, does a pox fall on our heads for resurrecting old threads?

It doesn't wreck my day as it seems to some others.

Normally, I ignore old threads. Heck, I ignore 98% of the threads these days.

But I saw this thread as I'm close to getting another TL5 and thought, why not, what's the harm?

I had to ask, I guess...

IDK OP, I think sometimes it's a matter of seeing patterns and associations of our own minds, rather than objective observation.

Because Peavey gets praised constantly around here, and they have just about the best reputation one could want: solid, quality, player's instruments, and tank-like electronics that are well known to go 20 years +. The Peavey USA guitars /basses are also well-known to be killer values, even criminally so. Granted, them being a killer value does indicate undervaluing, so I'm sure your observation is true in aggregate. But those who dis Peavey are fools. Pay them no heed.

SWR may have had the "Workingman's" name, but everybody known that Peavey is the real deal. I'll take a $200 bass with a good setup and a Peavey 1x15 TNT Combo and demolish almost any venue, with tone and volume to spare. SWR can't touch the bang-for-buck Peavey established.

No matter what it says on the headstock, some people will talk it down - Fender, Ric, Gibson, even something like Alembic. I think there are three issues with Peavey. It has a reputation as beginners' gear. It also has a reputation for putting out heavy basses. Finally, in the years it first got that reputation, it wasn't a Fender, which is what the vast majority of bassists were playing at the time.

I fell for it. I usually check the OP date but forgot this time.

@TheReceder woke it up for some reason.
Just an interesting read. No plot. No big plan to fool anyone. Just bought a b-quad and acknowledged the thread was an interesting read. Being a Peavey fan it was good to see comments on other less known models. Seems that foundations get all the love now adays.

Since some people are sensitive response to old threads , I'll refrain in the future.

Admittedly I was shocked to see any responses after my "waking up" the post. Didn't expect it to get any attention.

Nope, no pox. Just a bad case of the wry cooties.

I have no problem with people resurrecting old threads. I just thought Two Fingers' post was funny because he directly addressed the OP. No offense was intended on Herrick's part.

I don't always check the dates but I checked this one because I thought it was a strange subject. I always see people talking about how great Peaveys are :eyebrow:

It got immediate attention from Peavey owners because we know the magic that lays waiting within a Peavey product, and for that musician with the understanding knowledge that comes from owning a Peavey bass, guitar or amp to bring forth that magic to create near perfection. Peavey owners are proud to own a Peavey product....its that simple...and we will shout it from the rooftops.

Zombie resurrection! I love peavey stuff. My #1 currently sports a peavey neck!

That looks like my first head/cab amp! Definately the same cab. I had a mark head, but looked a little different. I always thought it was a IV, but maybe it was a VI. killer amp!
