I've been Rev'd!!!!

Yeah baby. Smokin' basses, ain't they? Extremely old-school vibe and that fingerboard reminds me of a perfect example of an old Fender.

You got me all motivated, Gard. I have my white Fishy out and am going to stay up late into the night, fondling and loving it.

Congrats on the Fish! (And that other thing, too.)

Why are all the people at BC named after animals?

Jack

Hey Gard:
Joe Naylor emailed me back after I told him about all the fuss over here in recent weeks...he said he'd put the bass manuals back on line in archives at the next web update, which should be this months sometime...

Sadly, I didn't get any "quality time" with it last night, due to a previous commitment, but I will spend time with it during the day today (having a day gig in a bass builder's shop has some perquisites! ;) ), and tonight.

I'm still just slackjawed at the playability and tone from this puppy, it's the perfect modern-classic combination of playability and nice old-school tone, translated to a 5 string with a B string that is actually USEABLE (unlike that thing made by a company in AZ that starts with an F...).

Chef, thanks for puttin' the bug in Mr. Naylor's ear over that, it's kinda weird that they'd pull that info off the site in the first place, it can't be THAT much bandwidth! ;)

Jack-san, thanks for the congrats, on both the fish and the other thing (16 days now! :D ). And, I don't think EVERYONE at BC is named after an animal....as a matter of fact, the only animal name that is still there fulltime now is Beaver, Grasshopper is a part-timer just filling in when someone else is on vacation from what he's told me. So, that leaves Perry, Mike, KC, Keith, and Andrew.

Gard,

Enjoy that bass. I've had a BH5 for a few years now that I completely love. At first the guys in the band totally ribbed me when I first took it out of the gig bag. Now they love it. I haven't been using it much lately but for a while it went to every gig that I played along with my Emperor. It's a totally different sound than my Emp but I great complement overall.

I think that color says something about you being in touch with your masculinity.... I think;)

My Reverend is black - who can mess with that.:D

I totally blew it, I SHOULD have gotten a BH5 in the Bug Eye finish when I had a chance, that would have been perfect...you're dead on about the "complimentary" aspect of it! Perfect "foil" to my fretless Roscoe! ;)

Well, it looks kinda "peach" in the photos, but it's really somewhere between "safety orange" and "orange sherbert" in actual color, sort of a bright orange. Hey, my Element is a similar color, and I have no problems with my masculinity.

:spit:

Major, actually, no, it isn't THAT light, surprisingly. It tips the scale at 9.5 lbs. My Roscoe Century, which is HEAVY (but so balanced, you'd never notice), is 11 lbs, only a difference of 1.5 lbs - for a "semi-hollow", I'd have expected a bit more of a difference!

But, who cares, it SOUNDS AND PLAYS WONDERFULLY!!

:D

Holy crap, Jive1 destroyed this thread...

Congrats on the 'fish!

I have a Rumblefish 5L and it is easily the best five string bass I've ever played, and ever heard.

I've never had such powerful passive pickups in any bass I've ever owned, including a Rickenbacker.

Some day I'll get another 'fish, but for now, I'm on a tight rope with my girl...
