I've found cheap, easy to find copper foil shielding!

I read about using Corry's Slug and Snail Copper Foil Barrier

as a cheap alternative to expensive copper foils shielding tape that you have to order online. It doesn't have a conductive backing but I had some conductive backed copper foil tape and figured I'd use small strips to electronically connect pieces of the Corry's foil tape. When I started my project I discovered that when you overlap pieces of the Corry's tape and press firmly the pieces form an conductive connection!

This stuff is cheap and readily available at most hardware or garden stores. A 1" wide 15 foot roll is around $7. A 3/4" wide roll the same length from Stewmac is $8 and you have to pay shipping. It's not that much cheaper but you can get it today instead of ordering it and having to wait.

I can see that, but I've found that I get full conductivity without doing that.

I'm sure it is, but adhesive isn't always permanent, so I question the longevity of it. Plus, since I'm in a guitar already with a soldering iron, it only takes 2 more minutes to throw on some flux and make a few solder connections.

All you need is connectivity and some overlap. You're not trying to hold water.

Both copper and soldering are wastes of time and money. Get 4" adhesive-backed HVAC aluminum foil tape and either "ping" the seams or make sure all separate pieces are all bound up together and achieving continuity under the (taped) cavity cover.

We've had this discussion about twenty times here, and this is the bottom line on how to do it the easiest and cheapest with perfectly good results.
