I've read on here that this is a bad set up

It's a Genz Benz focus 4x10 & Trace Elliott 15. I just want to know why it's not a good combo?

Because the 115 will get fried before the 410. If you insist on running this pairing I highly recommend putting the 15 on top as it will start to fail first, so you want to hear it better. Let me ask you this, why do you think it is a better combo? 15's don't go lower than 10s and 10s aren't faster than 15s.

I don't doubt it sounds acceptable and at the end of the day it is your sound, but if you want to have the optimum performance from your rig using two identical cabinets is recommended. When pairing different manufacturers is a real crapshoot as each manufacturer voices their cabinets differently. I know my Markbass and Epifani went horribly together from a tonal standpoint.

If someone/anyone likes whatever he runs, great. That's the main thing. But is a 410/115 optimal (or even close)? Nope. Far, far from it.

Just for the record, nobody is saying it sounds bad, they are saying it could sound better.

From where ?

Did you just try it out, and stand a couple of feet from it ?

Or did you gig with it, and check from all areas of the room you were playing to check for boominess and nulls ?

But life DID end for hundreds of 1x15 cabinets when they couldn't keep up with the much more efficient 4x10s.

Or did you gig with it, and check from all areas of the room you were playing to check for boominess and nulls ?

I just hooked it up at my practice pad, I played a few songs with my band and it sounded better then the 4x10's alone, but not as good as my 6x10. I was just experimenting with my stuff

I run these sometimes but only using a stereo power amp so I can control how much volume each cabinet puts out.
