The deal for me is that nobody ever sees what tools I use. They only see results. And I deliver results.
When a tool is obsolete, I ditch it. But... we all know that technologies get "updated" more often than they need to be, and that those updates aren't always beneficial to us. Often, the earlier, simpler versions of tools are the best.
My strategy is to learn a tool and then stick with it until something radically better comes along.

I think the mentality of replacing things that work for the sake of having something new is incredibly wasteful and deplorable.
