Well, I can report that it plays and sounds a LOT better than it looks...! I originally thought it would be more of an artpiece, but the looks really come after what this bass is about - amazing sounds and great playability

BTW.....I understand why some dislike the look of the 4004LK and view it as tacky. I love mine and it is the only bass I own that I can't envision the circumstances that would make me part with it (well, OK, a boatload of cash might do the trick). Mine is also quite the player and has great, angry tone. The looks are certainly an acquired taste and maybe that is part of the appeal to me. The overdone, artsy, in your face tackiness is, to me, also quite beautiful and the hand carving makes each one one-of-a-kind which is welcome in a sea of clones, cookie-cutters and copies. It is simply Lemmy-licious!

There are so many incredibly heinous looking basses in this thread!

It's cool to see everyone's vision of beauty. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

That said, beauty aside, FL Knifemaker probably has the coolest bass in this thread.
