Well, this is a really known conflict but in the end it just comes down to preference. For me, it's the Jazz Bass. It's brighter, versatile and easy to play. But I still love my P Bass! Strong, aggressive, beautiful to look at, it's a classic rock bass! But even playing in a rock band, I fell to the Jazz quite recently. Maybe I'll change my mind!? Who knows?

What about you? Is it the strong classic P Bass, or the bright versatile Jazz?

I own both and play both.
One is not better than the other.
Strings make a big difference on both basses.
For a change, try flats on your Jazz, and rounds on your P-bass.
Since most people like it the other way around.
There is no wrong choice.
I can do any gig with either bass.

Love these polls ha! There has to be 100 of them floating around, but they never really get old. I play both. I use them in different situations. I don't ever think of one as better than the other because they do different things well.
