J Bass w/ series/parallel switch stock

It costs like 15 bucks to mod a standard jazz with this option. If you don't have hum cancelling pickups, you'll get some noise in series mode. I wired my fretless J with one. I almost always leave it in that mode now unless I am playing solo stuff. That setting just works.
I think it was around 04-07 that the S-1 switch appeared in the American Jazz. I like it; many others don't. There are lots of threads about it. And I think it did start in the Deluxe.
The S-1 was in American Standards only. I don't remember the deluxe sever having it. Very cool option. Fender stopped offering it in 2007 or 2008.
I just bought this neat little thing for a parts-bass project. It's a wiring harness that has a variable capacitance, series/parallel switching and requires ZERO soldering.

Nice sonic variety. You really get a feel for the differences when toggling the board's capacitance value.

... with all due respect, an American STANDARD has NEVER had an S-1 switch ... it was the American Series, which debuted in mid 2000 , and was discontinued in early-mid '08 with the re-introduction of the 'New' American Standard ... The S-1 switching was first advertised on the 2004 American series models, but actually showed up on mid -late '03 models and was continued as a stock item through the entire rest of the run ...
... there have been several MIM Fender FSR's ... which one had s/p switch?

... in retrospect, I have no idea since i didn't know there were different FSR jazzes. I bought a MiM FSR Jazz body in natural finish that had a S/P push/pull knob and a Badass III bridge standard, after a quick google search i realize that i really can't find any other FSR that matches those specs, maybe it's it's from a an older FSR release? Sorry i couldn;t be more help, i thought it was a standard thing on the FSR line
... that would have had to have been a result of mods done by a previous owner .. no MIM FSR would use a BAIII as stock, because it would not be string thru body ... a push/pull knob also sounds like an aftermarket owner mod and not likely something that would have been original as stock ...
