Yes I knew someone would bring up Nordstrands. A while ago I tried pairing some Nords NJ5 with a ACG pre amp no matter what I did (grounding shielding) couldnt get the bass quite the thing hissed like a mad snake. My Bart setup just dropped in without grounding or shielding and is dead quiet. Im not very good with electronics so I gave up on the acg and nords I suspect its the acg pre that cuased the trouble.
I would be happy to revisit the Nords if some one could suggest a set up that works for them ( without having to shield the pickups ? ) Someone mentioned that all single coil Js need shielding ? . My question is this why dont these high end pickup manufactorers shield them for you like the Barts ?

Can anyone enlighten me ?[/QUOTE]

I know of numerous installations using Nordstrand pickups and the ACG preamps which work perfectly well. It is important that both the shielding and grounding are done well to get the best from any preamp pickup combination.

I just added a set of EMG JAX...punch nirvana...excellent tone, and has a punchy low end with the tone rolled off. It's a pain getting the battery to fit in there (I actually eliminated the bus to save room by simply soldering all the hot wires), but once done, I feel it was well worth it.

I'm having someone build me up something new build Ash - Ebony - NJ5s 70s wind - Audere - 35".

I can honestly say I can hear what it will sound like before its even built. :hiding::hiding::hiding::cool:
