Jack Casady - underrated!!!!!

I am obsessed with jack casady's style of playing, sound, and everything!!! He is my absolute hero. If I could jam with one person it would be Jack! I feel like he is sooo underrated. everyone talks about Jaco and all the other big bassists, but nobody really seems to recognize jack! why is that? i realize it's a different type of music and a different plain all together... but still. he's the man as far as i'm concerned. thoughts?

even if I'm a jaco , miller, wooten... fan, jack is one of my hero too, and I think that most of the guys here (not everybody) just loves fancy playing with a lot of notes and technical stuff, but most people (not everybody lol) just forget that playing bass is first lay down a groove plain and simple, I can play jazz, wooten style marcus style and jaco style, but I'm always amazed when I heur a great song because it makes me realise that all the stuff I know is nothing compared to a great song with simple stuff (listen to mc cartney, casady .... or more recently, robbie williams stuff, some songs are great and with great bass lines)

I think that here we praise too much technical stuff and technical players and forget that we play bass, and bass is all about laying a groove and be a support.

that's what a player like jack casady is all about. a solid supportive player.

Jack is my #1 influence and a lot of his specialties, like octaves, chromaticism, and melodic runs while nailing the groove creep in both consciously and subconsciously into my playing all the time.

That's the level 4 course. You will have to have taken level 3
with him or provided a recording of your music to take the
level 4 course.

Marjorie Thompson, a friend of mine who is a teacher there,
clued me in to that.

I was going to submit a cd, but the mid Nov timing doesn't
work for me.

By the way, many of us ARE familiar with Jack, and he is
not underrated around here.

Also, if you checked the 'Bassists' forum which is where your
thread belongs, and not the 'Basses' forum, you would have
found some threads about Jack there.
