Nice addition with the footswitchable effects loop! In addition to the footswitchable channels, will you be able to mute the output via the footswitch? I sure hope so! ;) :p

Man, this is going to be good! :D

Tom.

That can certainly be done, but what is the benefit of muting the output while playing? Forgive me for a stupid question. :D

Shouldn't the tuner be used before the amp? Most tuners, especially the Strobostomp that I use, will mute the signal that goes to the amp when tuning.

Please explain??
If you have a 1 input and 0 output tuner, or don't want electronics in front of the amp which can potentially harm the tone or fail, a tuner out is necessary. A lot of tuner outs will have a mute switch so that the audience doesn't have to hear you tune.

This might be do-able. I'll check into it. Good idea. :D

is this gonna be class a like your guitar amps?

No, this one will be Class A/B as this operating class gives the higher output needed for low frequencies.

is it gonna have modern styling?

I'm not sure what modern styling means. It will have vintage tones as well as some of the more modern tones as well. We are also incorporating a lot of modern features and methods in order to eliminate of a lot of reliability issues that players in the past had to deal with when using vintage amps.

is it gonna have blue led's?

I was thinking Red and Green. Did you have some other ideas in mind? :)

is it gonna have a big logo in the front?

Of course! A nice big die cast emblem that is chromed and then clear coated. :)

emblem.jpg

is it gonna have a superior warranty?

5 Year Limited Warranty. Fully transferable.

is it gonna have a modern tube sound?

Because it's 300W, it will have much higher headroom than a lot of vintage amps, this along with some of the new features that we are incorporating which are not found in vintage amps will cause it to have a more modern sound if desired.

is it gonna make me go broke?

The amp will be close to 3K. This is a ballpark price as I've not been able to price some of the components that we will need.

thanks in advance cause this looks like a really intresting project.

Glad you are interested! I think this product will really fill a niche that has long gone unfilled.

also, guys like me really find mutes convenient in church settings where there are 2 or more music sets in a service, seperated by the sermon, etc, and we leave the amp on during the entire service, but dont want our active basses to be drained during that time. so i've seen everything from guys having to signal to the soundman to mute his instrument channel, buy mute pedals, buy cables with self-shorting plugs, unplug from amp first, etc....

footswitchable features are awesome. like the fender tbp-1 preamp that has a 4 button footswitch for EQ, FX loop, Mute, and 2nd OD channel (blended) ;)

As Far as the LED thing goes, i think you should match the LEDs to the Tolex/wood. That'd be sick. And for the black ones you should make it purple like a black light (if a black light isn't kinda purple looking, excuse me i'm kinda colorblind :D )

Actually I do this now. I pick my Jewel Light to match the cabinet. If I have a black cabinet, I use a white jewel light. I call that my "sinister minister" theme. :D

Gotcha!! Yeah I think we can do this. :D

You asked why not use the tuner before the amp. Frankly, I'm whacky enough about signal that I don't want anything in the signal chain between my bass and the amp. Don't complain about my dedication to tone-that's why I'm considering your amp in the first place!

WRT the DI out, please strongly consider a Jensen transformer, as they appear to be the gold standard. That would guarantee no problems when I take the amp in the studio.

I've always prefered the Jensen DI's... they are just quiet and trouble free.

I also prefer a tuner out/mute button. (Footswitchable is a bonus!!!) so that you can mute the output, but it still sends your signal to your tuner. This does allow for pure unadulterated signal going into the amp.... However; I use a Strobostomp.. and even if I go ahead and put it in front of the amp.. I can't tell any difference.. (I could with other tuners though). It's just nice to have it after the amo.. so that you don't have to worry about it.

I voted head... 'cuz I'm assuming (and hoping) you're making an all-tube bass amp... hopefully with something along the lines of 8- 6550 power tubes! :D

Or be the first to put 10 in there! Who cares if we gotta have a forklift to move it around... Just kidding... :bassist:
