Hello all and thanks for reading. I have owned this Jackson Charvel Bass for 10 years or so and it has been my go to bass for general practice, learning, and playing whenever im nervous. Since I have grown attached to it I am on a mission to identify it. I tried a few years ago, got confused, and just put it off.

I have read the guides online a few times specifically the Invalid Link Removedand this is what I have for details. It has a bolt on neck - It has both TM marks one on the head stock and one on the neck plate - It has no neck plate gasket - the serial number is 228953 - there is no "made in japan" marking however many were stickers and that probably did not last long on mine - It has dot white inlays - it has 3 jackson logo covered pickups - I probably missed a detail but those are the basics.

From what I understand on the guides my details would point to a first year 1986 correct>? The series is where im really confused specifically because of the pickups - on the model series guides I looked at every single picture and you would think you see my series 3-4 times but my pickups start from the left side of the body not the right like all of the ones pictured.

I am attaching some photos, I am sorry for the quality of a few but they should show properly enough the details needed to identify. I am sure a J-C expert will see something I am missing and I apologize in advance if it is a stupid mistake but I would not have asked if I was not stumped. Thank You!

It appears to be a 2b.

yes I taught these guys well. :woot:

I cant see any pictures but ya 86 2b is the only year with the normal-p, and with a serial of 228xxx it will also have a TM on the logo not a R.
the 1b is a 87, the 2b is a 86
