Jad Freer Sisma Mega Thread.

So enjoyable how this thread keeps derailing with off topic and irrelevant generalized statements. Keep em coming folks, give me something to read in between all the xmas family stuff :D

I’m reading back some of mine and others’ posts on this thread. C’mon - even if the facts are sometimes eschew, this stuff is hilarious!

this is what happens when I post at 5 in the morning after a 4 hour upright jazz gig.
May everyone find a Class D micro amp in their stockings!

And… I dont know about Sisma, but Capo into Class D Jule M500 RULES!

merry holidays, everyone. I wish everyone the best on their musical (or gear) journeys.

Topic shmopic. We are humans, not bots. Some of the richest information is found when the discussion is allowed flow naturally into the unexpected.

Andy, are musical instrument amplifiers considered radio frequency devices (or disruptors) by the FCC? If so, what category do they fall under?
If they have digital or switching circuits (smps and/or class D) they fall under part 47 unintentional radiator. Add Bluetooth or wireless RF and it also falls under intentional radiator.

They sound and perform completely different.

I still have a SISMA amp in the U.S. jumping around between Talk Bass members to try it out so anyone interested in playing one for a couple of weeks just DM me.
Yes, they sound different because they were made to sound different, that is my point.

There are all sorts of topologies, even in the same type that sound different because that was the intent of the designer. Not all tube amps sound the same, unless that was the intention of the designer. How many tout that their design sounds most like an amp that was built in Linden, New Jersey. Not every mosfet, tube, class D, or whatever else is out there amp, sounds the same. It would be sad if all bass amps sounded the same, what would be the point.
We all have our preferences and our biases, that's cool.

@agedhorse
Hey Andy,
Is it unrealistic to think that one could use a outboard pre amp (either pedal or rackmount) in the effects return of a MI amp and expect it to work properly?
It could if there is an impedance miss match. lf the output of the preamp doesn't match the effects return of the MI amp. Making one or the other seem inferior and that has nothing to do with class or topology.

Yes but you are talking about a period when bass amps did not share the very same third-party power amp module.

Well, I did. But you may take @SeayBass

So are you saying, because they do, the whole finished amp can't sound different?

Some of the tube designs shared the same RCA design yet sounded different.

No, I'm just saying what I am saying, they share the very same power amp section. If you want to make some generalisation you may want to start from there.
I guess I'm missing your point, they being class d bass amps share the same power amp section. So your point on that is what?

My point was, I have heard different class D-powered bass amps that sounded different from each other based in the bass amp designer's intent.

You disagree?

:)

So your point was?

I could go on stressing the point I am writing in this specific thread because I've been testing a lot the head object of this discussion vs several other amps and design. I could be as specific or technical as required since those amps have been tested both on the road and on the slab. If there is any info you are interested into before you have the occasion to try our amps I am happy to provide.

I understand what he say after trying a Darkglass, GK and Bergantino that have the same power amp. I play the darkglass for over 2 years and the Bergantino too.
They have like a direct "cold" tone to them even if they sound different because of the preamp, the colour is different. But the way they react to the playing wasn't super different from what I have felt.

Playing through an ampeg SVT3 pro, this one was like slower, not way slower like a big tube amp but it feel really different to play through that. I don't know about why it does that but it is how I feel the thing.

The only thing I "don't like" about those ICE power module is that every brand want to prove they are better than the other by changing the power on the paper. Like Darkglass say it is 900w (20% THD), GK say it is 800W (10% THD) and Bergantino say that it is 700W (1% THD) but playing through all of those and none of them was louder than the other even if it has 100 or 200W more than the other.

If the Sisma is tried in your JF Lab in Italia it is possible to compare it to the other amp you have there if I am correct ? That is super cool.
