Took the plunge and went with the Lucydreamer after reading this thread and seeing the demos linked above. Really dig the drive possibilities between the gain and mix knobs. The tone control could be brighter, but maybe it's my passive axe with flats that's dark. I'm usually running the tone between 2:30 and fully CW.
So far, the setting I've enjoyed most is gain around 9:30, mix around 11 o'clock, tone around 2:30. Haven't messed with the internal trim, but not sure if I need to? Gets pretty fuzzy as it is, tho I really dig the second stage with the gain full on more than any other high gain setting.
Have an SSBS Mini on my big board that isn't going anywhere, so I'll probably use the Lucy on my small "tone board." Clutch grab n' go kind of setup for jamming and songwriting more than rehearsing or gigging.
I don't have experience with tube amps, but have read that the design was meant to emulate the breakup and touch-response of tube breakup. Anybody with experience in both chime in on how they compare?
