I stopped looking. It's part of a triumvirate that just covers all bases I want to cover. And sounds fantastic. Super satisfied.

PS I know you like your synths so I feel like it’s worth mentioning that at higher gain settings and with a muted attack, it sounds real nice and synthy. Actually kind of reminds me of the doom2 in you’re mode when you use that muted attack.
No tube... it's a variation on another thing that rhymes with "dreamer", but not quite the same.
Electric upright bass, yes. Not with my acoustic.

100% agree with this. I flipped mine because I thought it rolled off too much high end. I still wanted a little more sizzle even when the tone was dimed. Was a shame because it really does have an awesome character and insane range of gain.
Different strokes I guess. I rarely roll off more than three o’clock and that or wide open is where it lives. But in a recent recording project I needed the harmonic energy of the distortion without the crispy-ness and I found an effective sweet spot with lots of roll off, much more than I expected. Sure, the curve of the tone pot could afford more fine tuning.
I'd say this is one of the few real bass overdrives, that actually pronounce the bass frequencies well and let the bass guitar still sound like a bass. I'll use a second overdrive - maybe a JHS Morning Glory or Darkglass Vintage Microtubes - if I need higher freq distortion.
If you want more sizzle, it stacks well with a Phat Phuck B, which has an inherent germanium sheen.
I got one of these today. The low gain setting is very useful for me - haven’t taken it to a gig, but I think it’ll work fine.
The high gain setting (even dialed back as much as you can with the internal trim pot) is, however, completely useless to me. The possibility that that sound could erupt due to a foot stomping error (the switches are very close together, and I have big wide feet) means that the pedal, out of the box, is a liability that I can’t use.
So…. I’ve hot wired mine so the high gain mode is not accessible - a non functioning switch is far better than one that turns on a godawful (to my ears) mode.

Hmm. This might just be a matter of taste, but I wonder if you guys aren't giving the tone knob short shrift. I think there's more to this pedal than just the top end sizzle.
I just turned on the LD and lowered the tone filter to fully counter-clockwise, turned the mix knob to fully wet, and cranked the gain and got this tone with a P-bass, which I'd never tried before, but I'm digging it. It's sweet and meaty. Excuse the iPhone recording:
