As you know, Nick is an Ashdown endorser, and Mark Gooday, the owner of Ashdown, is a friend of mine, so I asked him. Here's his reply:


Spoke to Nick a while ago, he just said that he
could not work like that any more and had become too close to Jay , even lived at Jays for 6 months , had no time for his own career and wants to move on now.
If I hear more I will let you know.

BTW, a guy who was at the Istanbul gig said that it was Alex formerly of Incubus.

Electrasy- my covers band supported them at a gig in '99, back when they had some success with the "best friend's girl" single and appeared on TFI Friday.
Nigel Nisbet doubled on guitar and bass (either a DAT or sequencer provided bass for the songs he played guitar on).

looks like they got into some difficulty re. record companies when they relocated to the U.S.

So Jay goes and get a rock player for his funk/dance band. Brilliant! I've been told by people in the inner circle that Rob has some sort of influence over Jay. This bassist used to work with Rob, so I'm guessing that's why he got the gig. Nowhere to go but up, I s'pose.

Alex Meadows certainly seems to have struck it lucky- Electrasy were pretty much up the proverbial s**t creek without a paddle, "paddle" specifically being a record deal.

I get the impression he was drafted into Electrasy to free up Nigel Nisbet to play guitar full-time, so he never got much of a spotlight, which he'll get now.
