I bought a Jans Strumphler German bow at isb last year. It is by far one of the best bows I’ve ever played on, and the best bow out of the hundreds for sale at isb. It pulls a bright and colorful sound, the string respond instantly to it, It makes all bow strokes (bounced or on the string) very easy to execute with cleanliness and precision. But its most impressive trait to me is its huge volume. It is the loudest bow I’ve ever played on by far. I remember trying out different bows in a crowded room at isb, barely being able to hear myself think. Then I tried out the Strumphler bow. My bass produce the biggest, crystal clear sound it ever had, cutting right trough the crowd’s cacophony. So if your serious about buying a top quality bow I would definitely recommend giving Mr Strumphler a call.
Ps this bow beat out many other good bows I was trying. Names like H R Pfretchner, Bern Dolling , Ruid Hudson, and horst Schicker. So his bows rival if not exceed that standard.
