i should mention that it's still properly fused. the circuit breaker was on the output to i guess protect speakers? i had a carvin 4x12 that had a fuse doing something similar. since i mostly use old organ speakers I'm not particularly concerned about thrashing them if it results in good toan
Days and days of jank starvation, and all of a sudden our jank cups runneth over. Cool rig! Got any sound clips?
Just acquired this janky cab but I'm in the process of cleaning it up so it's much less janky now - still needs new dust caps so I suppose it qualifies:
This beauty was recently featured in another Talkbass thread, but I thought I would post it here where it might feel more at home and maybe receive a little more love (or maybe not 
). The Yamaha head was $20 on CL and the ratty old Carvin cab was $100 from GC with no grill (and I only paid that because it's loaded with an EVM 15B)...
I've already made some "improvements." The original combo the amp came out of was a monster the size of a washing machine. There was a lot of empty space so I moved the preamp board over and sawed about a third of the case off. It's now a svelte 19" wide and sits nicely on top of the beautiful vintage rat furred Carvin. Not sure if the mods makes it more or less janky.

Man, 19"? Build a scrap plywood head shell for it!
Or if you have access to a rack case, cheap, mount it in there. Homemade rack ears!
If you have tools to work a piece of punched steel mesh into a protective "lid," you could go for something on the Ampeg B15 head—Vox Night Train head spectrum.
Or some plywood end caps...big old SS
Verellen Meat Smoke type enclosure.
Looks like a cool rig!

Yeah - then go to Home Depot/Lowes, pick up some expanded or stamped steel and make a 'cage' for the 'lectronics on top. Then, add one of those remote controlled color-changing LED kits to it. THEN, flip it on CL advertised as a Custom, Vintage Bass Rig!
Or keep it and rock it's coolness. But doing all that I think might disqualify you from this thread.
Ever seen those light bulbs with two little flame-shaped electrodes in them, with the little flame-shaped neon glow jumping around between them? I think it would be funny to put a couple ceramic bulb sockets on a chassis with a couple of those bulbs in them. Really F the tube nerds up at shows.

Ha, that's exactly what I was thinking about doing! I found a piece of perforated aluminum for a lid. I was thinking about flipping the transformer, caps and heatsink so they stick out the top B15 style. It might be some work but it would look pretty cool!
I built a rat rack case a few months back, starting around post #782 of this thread, page 40...might give you some ideas, or migraines.

Update: I went the long way around and made a cover out of perf aluminum and flipped all the components so they stick out the top. They're mounted on heavy duty standoffs so it's all secure. It was a lot of work and I would never do it again but it turned out...uh...unique!
Not exactly something I would gig with...just a weird conversation piece. I was going to paint the cover black but now I kind of like the white (it came primed).
Awesome, and thanks for updating! That's like taking the 1950s lab-gear aesthetic of an old Ampeg flip-top and cranking up the visual intensity. Kind of giving viewers an unapologetic face full of solid stateness. That finned heatsink/power amp module thing sticking up is hilarious and cool.
You should gig it, though.
