Jason Newstead might perform with Metallica!

Wow, Jaymz voice on MoP... ouch. :(

I was commenting on this very thing to a buddy. I'm assuming that with all the HoF hooplah, there's parties, meets-n-greets, general carousing with all the friends throughout the years that have affected your career....his voice was probably shot from chit-chatting with everybody for a few days straight.

Still...probably should have had some herbal tea with honey before he started.

I'm surprised they played it in Standard Tuning - for a good long while now (at least 10 years) \M/ has been downtuning to Eb or D for a large amount of the time and material, presumably for his vocal range. The injury he sustained during the recording of the Black album and the change in his vocal style over the years have cut back his range considerably.

...but no matter what, seeing Jason & Rob shouting "MASTER!" into the same mic brought a grin to my face - I'd love to get a good screen-cap of that for an avatar. :D

According to their website, the R&R Hall of Fame is inducting the following current/former members of Metallica:

James Hetfield (vocals, guitar; born August 3, 1963),
Kirk Hammett (guitar; born November 18, 1962),
Jason Newsted (bass; born March 4, 1963),
Lars Ulrich (drums; born December 26, 1963),
Cliff Burton (bass; born February 10, 1962, died September 27, 1986),
Robert Trujillo (bass; born October 23, 1964)

You forgot...

Kirk Hammett's Crybaby wah-wah pedal (annoying guitar effect; born August 12, 1991) ;)

No Dave? wow xD, I mean... Rob's there.... Dave should be there too.

Most likely because as much as Dave was a factor in the formation and early history of Metallica, he never recorded an album with the band.

From what I've gathered, this is how James sings nowadays. No amount of herbal tea will bring his 20's voice.

I look at it like this. The band is still going and vital. And while I think they had a few rather stinko tracks a while back, I think the new CD is good. Not And Justice For All or Master Of Puppets, but good! And they still fill the house, anywhere they play. That says a TON!

As to James voice? C'mon, give the guy a break! Who among us middle aged duffers can do everything we did, like we did at 20? Considering all they have been through, and all James has been through I still think they, now, are better than a lot of bands out there!

As to the performance at the Hall of Fame show, wow! Just wow! James and Robert on stage at the same time! How fantastic!! And I think they sounded great! You wonder what Metalica sounds like with more bass, well now we know.

+1 brother!

I'm a big Metallica fan and while I agree their last few albums haven't been as food as thier previous work, they are still better albums than other bands out there.

I will listen to Load, ReLoad, St. Anger a million times over before I listen to Nickelback, Hinder, Saving Abel and all that crap thats dominating the radio.

I was implying what a bad night for his voice to be off. As I've said before, I've seen them many times from the Black Album to Death Magnetic, maybe 15-20x so I know what he's capable of live. Just the wrong night to have an off night.

I loved Jason and Rob playing together! I wish they could get Jason back. I like Rob, but for me Jason's playing is much more tighter. Not that Rob is sloppy by any means. Maybe it has to do more with his distorted/OD tone. Jason's playing seems to cut through more.
