Jason Newsted sound without a transamp

I know there has been a million threads on this but i have one slight dilemma i don't have a transamp so i've been looking for just straight out amp settings and haven't had very good luck:(
I've read in an interview that he said mids are a very key part of his sound

I play a musicman stingray through a backline 600 I already have boosted the mids but i need to know contour, treble, bass, and boost

I have done a ton of research... IMHO you cannot get a Sansamp sound without A: Cranking a SVT and miking it or B: buying a sansamp.
I switched to Sansamp RBI preamp a couple years ago and I have never been happier with my tone after playing Live since 1984

A good alternative to Sansamp is the Hartke VXL (fraction of the cost). Pretty similar tube/drive features and the VXL actually has a lot more tone shaping options. You could run it directly into your FX loop Return to bypass the Backline preamp section (if backline has FX loop).

I dont want to start a new thread and be yelled at (through conmputer screen) so I have one question. My TC Bh500 head does not have fx loop, so could I still use the VT bass pedal like a normal Pedal? Thanks!!

Sorry for hijacking your thread OP

*Most* pedals are meant to be used "up front" and not in the effects loop because they operate at instrument level, not line level.

Thank you, I was just concerned because I had read that the VT and other sansamp devices act like a preamp, But I cant bypass mine. Would you recommend the VT or a sansamp bass driver?

Sorry...........can't recommend either, as I don't have them. I did use a Sansamp RBI for a while though.

You may want to wait for confirmation on what I had posted above from someone that uses either/both of those pedals to ensure that using it "up front" won't overdrive your input.

I've owned multiple BDDI's, a PBDDI, an RBI, a VT, and currently own a PSA-1.1. All of them work just fine in front of an amp in terms of gain staging. The rack preamps aren't really meant to go in front, but the can just fine as long as you watch your levels. The pedals prefer (to my ears) being out front rather than in the loop. Get your amps EQ as close to neutral as you can, which is not likely to be with the EQ controls at noon, and you'll have a better chance of the two preamps not fighting each other sonically.
