Yeah, it looks great!!! Can you get one for me too? Link to the manufacturer?
Can you remove the pickguard, or have they made a grove for the neck pickup wiring under the pickguard? (that's the case with my fretless, otherwise I would have removed the pickguard on that one too...) And personally, i like it better when the output is placed on the metal plate, together with the knobs, but that's really a minor detail...
Here's a link of the Smith site. I know Brooklyn gear is the distributor for them. There are a few guys around here that deal them as well, but I don't know if it's against the rules to post to them. You can certainly PM me and I can point you in the right direction.

I haven't tried pulling off the pickguard at all. I'm probably going to put a J-retro in it in the next few months. I really like the preamp it has, it very good, but the J-Retro is even better IMO.

Fender FSR 70´s Jass CAR, LPB

There were no way i could resist these. And they are probably booth staying. I have thought from time to time to sell the CAR. But it´s really hard.

Anyhow:

CAR bought Sept. 2003 from Music123 brought here by "sorry we lost your package" UPS

LPB bought Sept 2004 from Guitartrader. Brought to Papa with love and care by my NYC friend/colleague Chris! (BIG thanks!)

LPB is the nicer player. Slightly thinner neck.
Very growly! Using DR High Beams. Nice!
Build quality is one of the best i´ve seen on a Fender.
Great attention to detail, neck pocket tight, fret ends covered by binding so no sharp ends.
There are a couple of owners here on TB and i think they second that.
Avalible quite often on the bay

Nice! Give us some specs man!

Sure, The body came from a landfill (really, a friend of mine found it). So I'm not sure what type of wood it is, but I put the oil finish on it... whatever it is, is pretty good lookin stuff for being left in a dump...

Pickups are bartolini (model 9J's, split - like a P pickup in a J enclosure), with the two band preamp.

bridge came from Link Removed I think it's their Spector type knock-off

The neck is a MightyMite P-type maple.

Pickguard, control plate, knobs (AllParts) and tuning heads (MightyMite) all came from various e-bay shops...

It's tone is a little bright but still very useable, weighs about a ton, I think I've got about $400 in it.

Thanks!! I actually have a 75 jazz bass - i've posted in this thread already. What do you mean by FSR? Reissue?

Wonderful basses! Loving the matching headstocks!
