Jazz bass opinions

I give you 1300 dollars and tell you to buy a jazz bass. What do you buy and why? Is it the pickups, string spacing, etc.
(In other words im thinking about buying one).

You'd be better off actually getting out there and trying them for yourself. What others like may not be what you like. That's why we have choices.

Yeah, there are so many out there in that price range I wouldn't know what to get.

I would look for a used American Elite Jazz.

N4 noiseless pups and the preamp sounds great, the compound-radius neck feels great, and the fit and finish of the Elites could be some of the best work from Fender yet.

I would get 2 new MIM, one with Rosewood board and the other with Maple

I'd buy a pre-owned MIM Standard V, invest the rest, and then cry myself to sleep every night watching the financial markets.

For a $1300 budget, I would find a used USA bass. If passive, I would add a battery box and a Sadowsky preamp. But, that’s me.

AVRI, obviously used, likely the '64 version. Great bang for the buck IMO, if one is into "as conventional as it gets" Fender Jazz Bass.

If not...there's about a zillion other options out there.

Fender American Standard can be had at $800 or less. Best thing Fender ever did.

Don’t know why they rebranded it the pro series.

I’ve had my 2013 for about 4 years. And it’s become my one and only.

The Bacchus craft line that you sometimes can find for under $1000(some with an Aguilar )

Buy a used American Standard for a grand or less and use the rest to buy your wife something nice or take her out for a really nice dinner.

I’d get a Maruszczyk Elwood or Sandberg personally. Active and maybe with a bridge humbucker. But this side of the pond they’d not attract import duties, which keeps the cost down.

I'm also in the market for a jazz, with similar budget. This is the first I've heard of Bacchus. What's the story with those?!
