I happen to like both basses, however I have big hands and the narrow neck on the Jazz is not comfortable. They are very different animals and should be chosen according to your style. I just put some coin down today on a Fender American Duluxe p bass, this bass is awesome as far as p basses go. It has active electronics, humbucker, abalone inlays and it's graphite reinforced, it is the most tricked out p bass yet and you can even dial in slap tones ( though that's not what I will use it for).

Which do you prefer: Jazz Bass or Precision Bass? Why?

It depends upon what style you're playing, but I have a 64 precision bass and just having that bass around has pulled me into the music that sounds best on the p-bass. So I have to give my vote to the p-bass.

What music sounds best on P-Bass and what sounds best on Jazz (other than jazz, of course)?
