I'm thinking about getting a new Warmoth body for my MIM Jazz, and I'm tempted to get a PJ version. Anybody have one of these? There's lots of Precision bodied PJs out there. I just love the way my Jazz plays, but love the sound of a P. Eventually I'll rebuild the original body so I'll still have a JJ.

Jazz bodied PJ

the placement of the P pickup is essential for the P bass tone.
You're going to have to set that pickup back close to the sweet spot...look at P basses and Stingrays and you'll get what Leo was doing with that one pickup.
Why not just get a P bass, put in a jazz pickup and get a jazz neck?
it'll look awesome.
I suggest the DiMarzios for your pickup selection for the pridge pickup.

There are some nice looking Fender Aerodyne bass bodies on eBay right now. They are PJ routed and look really nice.

I DO have a Warmoth Jazz Body for pj pickups that I'll sell. I went with a straight Jazz body on that bass and have had the PJ body sitting in the Warmoth box.

That is awesome! How close to the sweet spot is that P? And do you have those on a quick disconnect. I really like that!!!

Probably they do. This is just a standard Sadowsky 3-ply pickguard.
The color is very slightly "off-white," i.e., parchment.
Th P pickup is right there. I love dialing back to the P for certain songs. We do a lot of different styles, so the PJ setup is great to have. I mostly keep it in PJ mode and vary my right hand position.
I haven't put it back in the Jazz configuration in many months. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to swap it out with the quick connects.
That pretty much settles it. PJ it is.
