Jazz GAS, please advise

I have gone through a lot of basses including Warwick, Modulus, Ernie Ball, etc. Everyone is different but when I got my American Standard Jazz in 2008 I sold everything else except for an American P bass as a backup. I am currently looking for a 2012+ American Jazz as a backup but also with the new pickups for variety. I cannot say enough great things about this bass. There are other brands with better QC or maybe even better sound but for the price range this is in I think it is the best in my opinion. I would look for a used if possible for $750-800 USD

You gotta check out this new Sire MM V7 dude...seriously. There is a Sire bass club thread with tons or reviews, testimonies and pictures from their respective owners.

Lead us not into temptation!

And yeah, they look lovely and sound pretty amazing from what I've heard. One of those is already on my "gonna get" list.

So little time...so many nice basses...

I have heard some good things and I have also seen a bunch pop up for sale used which is not a great thing. The bass sounds fine in demos but I don't trust taking it on gigs since it is new and cheaper. Flea tried to do the same thing a few years ago and the basses had great reviews when they first came out then people realized they were garbage. He closed down shop soon after which I have a feeling Marcus will do as well.

Haha, I did it!

I've ended up with a new MIA Jazz Std, Mystic Red, maple.
I tried a 2010 used and a different new, and the one I've gone with plays way better. All three sounded good, not much to separate them, but this one was much faster and smoother. So there we are! Thanks for the help guys, I'll put up a picture later...

And even better, it was on special offer as it's a discontinued colour :)

Pics or you bought the Squier! ;)

I can understand your concerns. As for me, so far I haven't had any issues. This bass sounds better to me than my previous Fender Jazz American Standard V (passive). IMHO it is a good solid buy, and others feel the same.:)
