Jazz Instructor - North-East Toronto?

Really don’t know where to ask this, but I’m wondering if anyone knows of any good jazz, walking bass instructors in the North-East GTA (North York, Scarborough, or York/Durham Region)? I play bass guitar but I’d think lessons with a DB’er would be fine as well. I just want to find someone to help me play jazz well.

Also, if anyone knows of any decent jazz workshops in this area as well, that would be great.

edit: his tag should be @Mark Wilson which is weird because I tried that in the message box (I suspect you did too) but it didn’t find it. Seems okay after posting the message. Though, unfortunately, he hasn’t been online since Aug 2018. Hope he’s okay.

I live in Oakville and went to school at Mohawk and Humber Lakeshore. I imagine any members of the bass faculties there will be willing to give private lessons, though they may not be in your area exactly. I used to take the TTC to my lessons. When I was there this included: Will Jarvis, Rich Brown, Mike Downes, Pat Collins, Vaughan Misener, Pat Kilbride and others. Contacting them could help you. The Bass Faculty members of York University may be more local to you. Mind you these are some of Canada's top players and some of them charge more than a bit for a 1 hour lesson. So, if thats not your thing you may want to look elsewhere. (10 years ago, I was paying 60$ an hour for some extra lessons, and that was probably a student rate) But these guys may hook you up with contacts of former students that are capable and more affordable.
