I just completed the task of shielding the cavity of my bass guitar. I have JP-90 model with Jazz and Precision Pickups. I had just completed installing Seymour Duncan Quarter pounders for the Precision and the Jazz Bridge Pickups.
Suddenly, I had the Fizz Buzz sound, so I followed your recipe for the foil and grounding procedure, installed new pots and .0475 Cap, now I have the exact sound I was looking for with Deep bass on Precision and up front Bass on the JAZZ but the combination is awesome.
Thank you for showing the way. My family thought I was going crazy doing this kind of intense work to a guitar. But the results are awesome. It was really a decent project, and the time was well spent for the outcome

Presuming that the cable and system you plugged into is working properly . . . "dead" silence usually indicates a wiring error. Question: what are those red wires coming from the pups? I would expect your pup hot signals to be on the white wires that you have twisted up with the black (pup cold) wires.
