Jazz standards play along - no bass tracks

Hi

I've been working on learning walking bass to jazz standards with iRealPro. As awesome as iRealPro is I would like to play along to actual musicians playing as opposed to a midi track.
Are there any resources out there with recording of standards without the bass added?
I am looking for the closest thing to playing or jamming with a jazz band before I (gulp) make the jump (after quarantine).

Bass-less standards for play along?

I actually posted a similar question a few weeks ago. I’m currently researching straight ahead recordings that have bass-free duos and such to play along with.

Right now I’m checking out the Bill Evans / Jim Hall album as well as the Stan Getz / Kenny Barron double record. However, some of this stuff can get a little loose with the time - in a good way artistically - but maybe not for those just starting out.

The Aebersold series is invaluable because his books present a concise chord/scale method plus there are some amazing transcriptions of the bass lines for reference on certain volumes. Good luck!

Yes. Choose a song and go to the bottom of the screen. Click on the icon that looks like the sliders on a mixing board. You'll get a list of instruments. Choose the one you'd like to boost or cut and use the slider to adjust it.

In my opinion, Abersold has the playalongs with the most authentic sound. Guys like Rufus Reid and Ron Carter (among other great bassists) were involved on those recording dates.

Guys older than me used to get these on vinyl! I have a modest collection of CDs, but looks like you can get digital downloads now. There’s probably a ton or stuff on YouTube as well.

Agreed, that website isn't very good at all.

Since you've already been working on tunes, I'll suggest volumes 6, 22, 25, 44, 48 and 65. Maybe you'll see something familiar there.

Volume 2 is all jams on the blues form in various feels. Cool for working on your time or or soloing ideas.

I like volume 114. It comes with multiple CDs of the same tune list but in different mixes. You could play with just drums, or drums and piano, etc. If using the drums-only disc you could play any tune that has the same format as the track. eg - 32 bar form, 12 bar form, swing feel, ballad, bossa, etc.

To get a better idea of what each volume has, check out this list - List of songs in Aebersold's "Play-A-Long" series - Wikipedia

I hear the getting away from midi thing, but have a look at the new Band in a Box as well. The real instrument tones are very good, and if you want to blow over a particular tune for fifteen minutes, just set the number of choruses to 300.
