Someone posted that they have flats/jazz and rounds/pbass. My setup is the other way around, but when I get bored enough, looking for something to do (and I will), I'll switch them out of pure curiosity.
Fender P Medium Scale with flats, American Jazz with flats, Jazz 5 with flats, and Squire fretless with rotosound nylon wrap flats. All are wonderful sounding. I have however on occasion tried the 'dadarrio half rounds. They have a great cut through and still have a great flat feel.
Count me in,actually most of my basses have flats. I play mostly classic rock and some newer stuff. If it weren't for Higher Ground I could get by with flats only. I tried it with flats but I feel it needs the zing of rounds. OTOH, I have just played it finger style with flats and no one seems to notice.
Am I late?
Passive Kit Fender With Chromes (current main)
Active/Passive Fender Marcus Miller with Chromes (old main, now recording only)
Active/Passive Carvin SB4000 with Carvin Flats (on order, sure to become my new main)
All Jazz-style, all flats. Yummy!
I've had my Squier Precision V (Precision body, Jazz electronics and pickups) wear Chromes for quite some time. Currently wearing Ernie Ball Slinky (nickel rounds), but I go back and forth. I love the sound; Chromes are my favorite bass string.
I use some Short Scale La-Bella flats on my short scale SX Jaguar (J/J pickup configuration).
I'm in love with the tone!!
Here's some quicky little one-shot recordings my band did over the winter break to test our drummer's new recording software. I used the aforementioned ss SX Jaguar (J/J), with La'Bellas (.043-.104), all fingers, and using my 80's GK 400rb as a DI.
