JC Basses 5 String Spalted Maple

Beautiful bass. This may be strange a bit, but I most like the body shape, the curve near the arm rest, the upper horn etc. It's a perfect bass body, in every way. Somewhat Spectory, which is not a bad thing, just an observation. Extremely... tasteful. The other stuff on this bass are plain awesome, but a tasteful boutique body is rare around here. Congrats on that, if you haven't got one

My guess is that the copper shielding foil is acting as a ground. EMG does not recommend shielding the cavities for their active products.

I know they don't recommend connecting the bridge ground, but I wasn't aware of not wanting the cavities shielded. I can't think of a reason for that.

That is what they did at the place I take it for electronics. They are a phenomenal shop, so I assume they did it for a reason.
