I finished putting on the oil finish and it looks great. It still needs to be buffed a little bit. I tried to take natural light pictures, but it was too sunny out for them to turn out good.

That is fit for any Claypool low-ender. I notice there is a tiny black line between the pieces of wood, on the neck. Is that a tiny strip of wood, or a byproduct of the gluing process?

Yes there is a black veneer between every single layer of wood. That is how I got it to 69 pieces for the whole bass.

I got it from http://www.lmii.com/ they have all kinds of veneers you can buy. I made all the pieces roughly 1.5" thick considering I wanted a bass that is 1-3/8" thick. That gave me a little room to play with during the glue up. I glues it all together, some pieces stuck out on one side and some pieces stuck out on the other side. I then planed both sides and ended up with my thickness and to flat sides.

Okay, so the planer leveled the entire surface? I was wondering if the piece would survive the planer after glue up.

How long were the raw pieces you used? I'm assuming 22" at the minimum?

I'm thinking those are fiber veneer's. I'm going to try out some soon.
