Grinning Mouths, same set as the In Fiction video from earlier in the thread. Killer player, great tone, and very tasteful in all senses of the word. He's 90% of the reason I started tuning BEAD.

Save the talk on the state of the record industry for another thread. Yes, Wavering Radiant leaked. Yes, it's awesome. Yes, you should all buy it. Yes, I already have it on pre-order. Moving on.

I'll admit it I downloaded the leak (just like I did for Crack the Skye, Blood Mountain, and 10k days - all of which I own). The reason I did is because I couldn't wait to hear it I LOVE ISIS. This album is badass. Period. It reminds me of Obzen in that it seems to incorporate all of the sounds and ideas of their previous work into one awesome sound. And Aaron's voice seems to be getting better. I can't wait until they come back again (saw them twice so far).

glorious indeed. so much so i will buy the vinyl and the cd.

I am seeing them on June 11th. I am very interested to know what kinda tremolo Jeff is using on the new record. I like it a lot. Knowing his board its probably a BOSS, but it sounds a lot warmer than the TR2 and the PN2. I owned both and kept the pn.

Oh well. I like Jeff's tone on this new record a lot more than the other ones. This album his bass sounds a little thicker, it has some hair on its chest.

Admittedly, I did download Wavering Radiant... but ONLY after securing myself an autographed copy of the album (which will arrive on my doorstep when it's released).

I'm a big fan of Isis, but this album takes the cake. It's my all-time favorite Isis album, hands down. Lovers of a ghostly atmosphere, creative basslines, and bass effects will certainly enjoy it.

I can't wait to have the physical album in my hand. My ears appreciate the clarity of well-recorded CD audio. :)

A resurrection of sorts just on the question of his tuning and whether he uses two basses.

I hear he does BEAD, but then I also hear it's B F# B E and then I can play a song or two just standard EADG tuning and it sounds right (as in the tonal nuances come through pretty well, but I dunno)

+1, most of the vids i see of them playing live, he's using his fingers. and IMO it sounds like he uses his fingers 100% of the time on the albums too, but of course i could be wrong. i HAVE seen him use pick occasionally though.. this guy is actually the reason i started using fingers a bit more again.

i'm sorry, but i have to agree with that... and THEN some.
for me, nothing after oceanic stood out. panopticon was ok, but from that point on it seemed like nothing but the same chorus and reverb droning on and repeating. it was like they lost their edge;and no more distinct distorted face bludgining tied in with the post-rock sound.

something else i noticed too, on oceanic; aarons screams were above the music and he was very audible. but the albums after that it sounded like he was drowned right out by the guitars at all times.

Jeff has a Aaron Harris produced solo bass disc coming out called Endless Midnight under the name Crone. He also has a new project starting up with Aaron Harris and Cliff Meyer. This is all on Aaron Harris's site:

JC had a custom bass made by Sage Guitars.
Prior to Aguilar, I believe he used GK 2001 (which is where Justin Chancellor decided to switch to them) through an Ampeg Fridge
