Jensen MOD speakers

I'm not telling anyone not to buy the MODs. I'm saying that I don't think they are an authentic replacement going by specs alone.

Not for the CTS Ampeg driver. AFAIK no major manufacturer used the Jensen 10 for electric bass except for the late 50's Fender combos, and we know how well that worked out.
But the reissue Jensen C12 and P12 drivers are very much the same as those used back in the day, leaving those of us who used them back then shaking our heads at why anyone would yearn for them, and reminding us why those who could afford to dumped those suckers like a bad habit in favor of JBLs and Altecs.

They really are different. Find an old flatback. Even if it's shot, as far as I know, recones are still available. If the cabinet isn't salvagable, building another one just like it is easy enough.

I thought the C12 and P12 were mostly sought after by guitar players...ones I know anyway, and the re-issues are good. Never heard of someone wanting those for bass.

Yeah, I think if I were to actually do it, i would go with EMI B810's.

Not sure what I need more, a 'fridge, or gigs that justify owning a 'fridge

Not by themselves, except at bedroom volume levels. They're guitar drivers.

Maybe a little off topic . . . but are they decent sounding guitar drivers?

I can't tell you how they compare to vintage Jensens, but I once loaded up a Traynor 8x10 with MODs instead of getting the original Marslands reconed. Afterward I got a couple more of the cabs, and did them with reconed Marslands. Much different sound, IMO.
