JGR's 1200 watt micro - let the madness begin!!!!!

I, like many in this forum, wait with money in hand. Alas, JGR is not Amazon prime. I cannot order on Tuesday and get it on Thursday. Still, it is impressive to watch JGR sweat the smallest details. I suspect it will be well worth the wait.

Killer flick plus great eye candy. Am I the only one who loves the sampled bass in the soundtrack?
I generally despise slap wankery but when compressed-to-hell-and-back and sampled it's great texture.

I'd love to use a powercon connector but I know that would give folks fits, at least until they become more popular

I hope the future gets here soon. Speakon > 1/4", and powercon > IEC. I hate when IEC plugs get old and lose their grip (so to speak).

It would be colossally dumb if powercon fit into speakon or vice versa, so I have assumed they do not.

Has anyone had an iec wear out? Haven't had one pulled out yet at a show in over 20 years of active playing. And trust me, I'm not "lucky"! ;-)

Well yeah, that's why I mentioned it. I've owned at least two items where the IEC plug fit disturbingly loosely in the socket. I've never had one fall out at a gig, however I did have one wriggle out from a rack preamp during transport/storage. I don't know whether the fault was with the plug or the socket, but whatever, it happened.

Even if every IEC cable were snug, a locking connection is a better way to go, same as with speaker cables (it's also tempting to add "strap buttons", but I won't go there!)

IEC is supposed to be a standard size thing but I don't think everyone who makes them sticks to precisely that size. Can end up with a slightly larger socket or slightly smaller plug, or prongs.

My real pet peeve though is it seems most amp makers give you a cord that can hardly reach the floor from the top of a full stack.

My advice would be to include a 10-footer instead of a short one. I rob them from old copy machines and ditch my short ones as I gather more long ones.

I've got 2 long heavy duty ones I have snatched from other equipment over the years. Nothing worse that those stale 5' folded ones that never iron out.

I too was eyeing the new Demeter, but this has really swayed me. I'm trying out a Demeter on the 15th, but the specs of this one are so utterly perfect for my needs that it's hard to take anything else seriously.

I have the new Demeter and it is a really, really good amp. Truly meets all my needs. That said, depending on the cost and availability of JGR's 1200 watt micro, there might be a new Demeter in the FS forum in the near future.
