JHS battery simulator

Sure that will make a difference but my new CableSim pedal (coming soon) will have much more impact on your tone. Imagine being able to choose between long cables, short cables, curly cables, different metals and insulation materials... all at the twist of a knob. $89.95 delivered.
You didn't listen carefully. Each setting did sound different.
I was listening to the bat sim video while doing other things last night, and it had me going up until he started reciting the history of batteries. All jokes aside, the idea of a pedal that simulates a bias control or high headroom mode is an interesting idea ... it's a stupid idea, but the interesting kind of stupid.
This was the worst time to have to buy a replacement Radio Shack battery for my Bad Monkey pedal. You got me again, Josh Scott!
Better grab a NOS Radio Shack curly cable quick before - oops, too late, they're worth a grand now.
I mean, I do have an mxr badass variac fuzz that has 5-15v range to get the dying battery sound. I dig it

This actually exists in some pedals. I have a Radial Twin City to switch between amps. Since the output is buffered, it has a trimpot to simulate cable capacitance. Also, if you've ever seen a PRS with a "sweet switch", it does the same thing.
But that blouse! Maybe grab another button. And don't drink a glass of chocolate milk before filming.
The best part of the video was them demoing each setting. That's when I knew it was a joke.
to be fair the joke is sort of an obvious one if you're deep in the pedal game.
i've heard the circuit-stealing stuff but never understood how it become quite so controversial. The thing between him and devi as far as i know is a very one-sided story, and from what i understand devi is not exactly a trustworthy source/reliable person. I may be wrong, and for all I know devi is a lovely honest and classy person. I have owned several of her pedals and they were amazing.
pretty sure at one point devi herself argued that you con't copyright pedal circuits anyway - after having sold the rights to her designs under a non-compete disclosure, but then went ahead and broke the disclosure based on the argument that it was void in the first place.
I really don't want to turn this thread into a JHS controversy conversation, so i'll leave my point at "everyone copies everything" in this business, and yes it's in bad form for someone to outright clone a lesser known persons unique design, but having discontinued the pedal and seemingly moved on from that misstep the controversy seems to outweigh the situation.
I'll edit this post for more context if i have anything totally wrong, but would rather not turn the conversation into a JHS controversy thread (theres plenty of those already)
Well yeah, if you download the video from the JHS website. Those differences are lost if you listen on YouTube.
